MAI CHAU VILLAGE DISCOVERY

From Hoa Binh Town to Cun Pass, then Tan Lac District to reach Mai Chau Village. It is 60km from Hoa Binh Town. The beautiful district of Mai Chau spreads out under the eyes of visitors and lies in a green valley of paddy field dotted with rows of stilt houses. The stilt houses are made from wood and stand about 1.50m above the ground.

Visitors are invited to clean their feet with water before entering houses. Roofs are often made of palm leaves. The windows are relatively large to allow fresh air to circulate and are decorated with a few baskets of orchids and bird cages hanging outside.A handloom to weave brocades is often seen by windows, where young girls usually work. A young man wishing to ask for hand examines the blankets and mattresses decorated with colorful design to evaluate how diligent and house proud his future bride might be.Similarly, a young girl can judge the working ability of her future husband by seeing the number of fish scales and tails stuck to the wooden pillars. The more trophies on the pillars the more evidence the bride to be has of her husband�s ability to work hard. Hosts spread mats on the floor and invite their guests to sit down and drink home-brewed Ruoi Can alcohol. Meanwhile, wives start cooking glutinous rice. There is often a fish tank close to the house, and the host offers his guests to choose whatever fish in the tank they desire for their soup.

Not includin : Insurance, drinks, personal expenses.     Day 1: Ha Noi - Hoa Binh - Mai Chau ( L, D ) AM: Depart at your hotel at 8 AM for Mai Chau. Stop for taking picture then having Lunch in Man Duc town. PM: 2 hour Trek to the Muong village, visit a family and you will know about the lifestyle of the hill tribe . Drive to Mai Chau and stay in house on stilts. Dinner at 7 PM. Overnight in Mai Chau.   Day 2: Mai Chau - Sam Khoe village ( B, L, D ) AM: Breakfast at 7:30am then go to Sam Khoe village by bus (about 20km from the house on stilts). Walking through many peaceful and beautiful villages, picnic lunch. PM: Back to the villages by crossing many clean water streams and tropical forests. Dinner. Overnight in the house on stilts. Day 3: Mai Chau - H’Mong village ( B, L )   AM: Breakfast then go to Pa Hang, a H’Mong village is situated on 1000m high, trekking 10km in the area to discover the hill tribe. PM: Driving back to Man Duc for Lunch then going to Ha Noi.
